    Diamond Del’s Gem Mining Adventure

    Students experience a mobile gem mining experience where they mine for their own gems. They will wash the ore from their boxes revealing gems and minerals from around the world. They keep the gems and identify the rocks and minerals and how they were formed on earth’s surface.

    Sustainability at Mercedes Benz Stadium

    Students will learn about eliminating unnecessary waste; reducing the amount of overall waste; reusing/repurposing/donating materials rather than discarding; and recycling/composting.

    • October 7, 2026 (Off-Campus)
    • Cost per student: $43  (Fee covers the cost of the venue plus bus transportation)

    Johns Creek Environmental Campus

    Visit to a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment and educational facility. Students can tour the plant, view water science labs, and learn about water conservation and pollution prevention recovery.

    Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center

    Students explore how communities can protect natural resources, understand human impact on the environment, and develop sustainable solutions. Through hands-on experiences, students will investigate environmental challenges, learn from local conservation efforts, and connect their role as young leaders and sustainability heroes to creating a more sustainable future.

    KSU Cold War Interactive

    Students will explore the Cold War era through virtual interactive exhibits and discover how history, decisions, and innovation shaped our world today.

    Tellus Science Museum (Exploring the Solar System)

    In the lab, students will participate in an activity to explore the different planets in the solar system. Students will learn the order of the planets and different methods used to determine the kinds of planets in our solar system.

        Atlanta Community Food Bank

        Students see first-hand how local organizations address food insecurity, investigate the environmental impact of food waste, and develop their own community action projects related to hunger, sustainability, or food recovery.

          Dunwoody Nature Center

          Students will explore local ecosystems, biodiversity, and the impact humans have on the environment. Students investigate how scientists, conservationists, and communities use innovation and sustainable practices to protect natural resources and develop solutions for environmental challenges.

          The City of Smyrna Recycling Center

          Students explore different materials and what happens to them when they are thrown away or recycled.

          • March 3 or 4, 2026 (Off-Campus, 1/2 grade on each date)
