Jahanara Islam

With over 10 years of experience in education, Jahanara Islam has worked in a variety of educational settings including nonprofit organizations, private schools, charter schools, Head Start, and public schools. She has taught students in New York, North Carolina, and Georgia, gaining valuable experience working with diverse learners and communities. Ms. Islam is passionate about creating a supportive, engaging, and student-centered classroom environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. She strongly believes that social-emotional learning and relationship building are essential to student success and works to create a classroom community where students feel safe, valued, respected, and encouraged to be themselves. As an SEL-certified educator, she focuses on fostering positive relationships, building student confidence, and teaching important life skills such as empathy, collaboration, self-awareness, and perseverance. Ms. Islam is committed to partnering with families and colleagues to help students develop a lifelong love of learning while growing into kind, responsible, and confident individuals. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new places, reading, gardening and finding creative ways to make learning meaningful and fun for students.Â
