Serenbe Farms

Students walk the fields while learning about the principles of organic farming, sustainable agriculture, equipment and cultivation, composting, cover cropping, crop rotation, plant families, seed germination, pastured poultry, and the importance of eating locally-grown produce

Michael C. Carlos Museum

Emphasis on resource management: Ancient Greeks were aware of the importance of sustainable resource use, particularly in agriculture. Students will learn about practices like crop rotation and other methods employed to ensure long-term productivity. They will also explore the consequences of deforestation and overgrazing.

The Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design

Students will explore Regenerative Design and explore the Water Petal of the Living Building Challenge.

Tellus Science Museum (Exploring the Solar System)

In the lab, students will participate in an activity to explore the different planets in the solar system. Students will learn the order of the planets and different methods used to determine the kinds of planets in our solar system.

    The City of Smyrna Recycling Center

    Students explore different materials and what happens to them when they are thrown away or recycled.

    Sustainability at MBS

    Students will learn about eliminating unnecessary waste; reducing the amount of overall waste; reusing/repurposing/donating materials rather than discarding; and recycling/composting.

    Apex Museum

    The women featured in this exhibition were nominated by math and science alumni and faculty of several historically Black colleges and universities, particularly Spelman College and Bennett College, as well as by African-American women working professionally in the fields of applied physics, epidemiology, computer science, and medicine.

    Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Sustainability and Resilience

    The Mayor’s Office of Sustainability & Resilience (MOSR) leads science-based analysis informed by the community to establish, implement, and promote policies, programs, and initiatives related to environmental sustainability, climate resilience, circular economy and food security rooted in environmental justice.

    Diamond Del’s Gem Mining Adventure

    Students experience a mobile gem mining experience where they mine for their own gems. They will wash the ore from their boxes revealing gems and minerals from around the world. They keep the gems and identify the rocks and minerals and how they were formed on earth’s surface.
