Paper Making Museum

Students will observe and learn about the various tools used in paper making, both historical and modern. They will see how different tools perform specific jobs in the process. The museum visit is a direct experience of people “doing work” to create “goods”.

The Teaching Museum – Ruby Bridges Goes to School

This program describes the lives and historical contributions of important individuals in American history and will help deepen our student’s understanding of important historical figures.

The Atlanta Children’s Museum

Students will participate in a drum circle in order to create fun and sound, emphasizing a first grade standard of learning. The outdoor location will provide a tie in to nature.

Tellus Museum – Magnets

Students will engage in hands-on experiments to see what objects magnets attract (iron, nickel, cobalt) and what they don’t (plastic, wood, paper).

Chattahoochee Nature Center – Hunters in the Sky

This one-hour educational program focuses on raptors, some of our most fascinating native predators. A CNC Naturalist will utilize fun activities with large props and audience involvement to teach our students about these native birds and their impressive abilities. This program will include presentations of an owl and a hawk.

Art Barn – Art, Animals & Agriculture

With farming experts, students discuss how animals contribute to manure (e.g., horses, cows at a farm), and how these animals have their own basic needs met on the farm.

Chattahoochee Nature Center – Basic Needs of Plants & Animals

Explore the trails at CNC and discover the many plants and animals that live there. Along the way, we will compare and contrast the survival needs of the organisms we find.
