Amana Hosts Leaders from Carroll County Schools and Teacher for America

As part of the mission to prepare students to be become 21st century changemakers and STEM leaders, we believe in sharing with other teachers and leaders the tools and resources that we use to bring that mission to life.

Last year, Amana’s Executive Director, Ehab Jaleel, spoke on a panel at the Georgia Association of Education Leaders as part of the Georgia Deeper Learning Network.  He showcased how Amana develops authentic, engaging, and meaningful learning experiences that build literacy for the students we serve.  At that event, he met the Superintendent of Carroll County Schools who was impressed with what she saw and asked if she could send principals and curriculum leaders from her schools to see Amana in Action.

A few weeks ago, nearly a dozen education leaders from Carroll County spent the morning at Amana, touring with student docents and visiting classrooms to see deeper learning come to life.

They had a chance to see students engaged in cross-curricular learning that dives deep into a particular topic and empowers them to think critically to solve problems and create meaningful solutions.

A few days later, we hosted education professionals who were alumni of Teach for America.  TFA Metro Atlanta recently launched an initiative for TFA alumni and stakeholders to visit Alumni-led schools, and Amana was the first in the lineup.  According to an article in their Alumni newsletter, our TFA guests “gathered to witness firsthand the incredible work happening in one of our alumni-led schools—and left feeling inspired, reconnected, and ready to support.”

One visitor remarked, Being able to see alumni-led schools of excellence in action (while being led by incredible Amana students) was entirely moving and most importantly, enjoyable.”
